Dropdown for Confluence

Dropdown for Confluence

Overview

The Dropdown for Confluence app provides a simple, interactive dropdown macro to help organize content and improve user interaction on your Confluence pages.

How to Use the Macro

1. Insert the Macro

While editing your Confluence page, you can add the dropdown in two ways:

  • Slash Command: Type /dropdown directly on the page and select the app from the list.

  • Macro Browser: Click the + icon in the editor toolbar, select View more, and search for "Dropdown".

2. Configure in the Custom Editor

The custom editor now includes an advanced setting to control how users interact with your dropdown on the published page.

  • Label: Enter a clear, noun-based title for your dropdown (e.g., Project Stakeholders).

  • Description: Provide a brief helper message (1–2 lines) to guide the user (e.g., Select all team members involved in this phase).

  • Options: List the items you want to appear in the menu.

  • Support multiple selected options:

    • Enabled: Users can select more than one option from the list. This is ideal for tags, team members, or multi-category filters.

    • Disabled: The dropdown acts as a single-select menu, where picking a new item replaces the previous selection.

3. Preview and Publish

  • Editor View: In the editor, you will see the list of items you've added within the macro frame.

  • Live View: Click Publish. The macro will transform into an interactive dropdown menu that users can click to expand and view your content.

Permissions and Security

  • Inherited Permissions: This app does not require separate permission management. It strictly respects the existing Confluence page permissions; if a user can view the page, they can view and interact with the dropdown.

  • Data Privacy: The app is self-contained and does not store or transmit data to external services.
